I've never really been a team player, every man for himself as far as I'm concerned! Well kind of, I always found
myself leaning towards sports and activities where I was in charge of the outcome rather than being dependant on a team of other people, Karate, cylcing and skiing have always interested me but its the Karate that has been my passion for many years.
I started training in Tang Soo Do at 19 for a few years but then had a break
and got back into it in 2011, I got my Dan grade in 2015, my second Dan in 2017 and started teaching after that. I love all the elements of the training from the fitness, gaining knowledge, flexibility and an ability to defend myself if required and
it is a great pleasure to be able to pass on the knowledge I have gained to all my students.
I have been fortunate
enough to train with and learn from four different Grandmasters over the years and spent some time in the USA training with Grandmaster Khalid at his Do Jang in Phoenix.
I moved over to the ATMA from another federation in early 2017 when I realised it was more family orientated and struck a good balance between being disciplined
and enjoyable and was a great environment for myself , my children and my students.
As I get older I am starting to get more involved with the internal (neh gong) health benefits as well as the external
benefits (weh gong) and I look forward to starting Tai Chi classes with the ATMA in the future. I truly believe that Tang Soo Do has helped me in many areas of life other than the obvious physical benefits and look forward to progressing through the belts
towards Master grade and training other people to Dan Grade level and beyond.
